Anthropic Fellows Program

Overview

The Anthropic Fellows Program is a full-time, 4-month AI research and engineering fellowship with funding and mentorship, culminating in a public output such as a paper submission.

What you'll do

• Work on an empirical project aligned with Anthropic research priorities.
• Use external infrastructure such as open-source models and public APIs.
• Produce a public output (for example, a paper submission).
• Collaborate with a mentor through direct mentorship and a project/mentor matching process.
• Participate in weekly research activities within a cohort.

What you'll need

• Be available to work full-time on the Fellows program.
• Be fluent in Python programming.
• Have a technical background in computer science, mathematics, or physics.
• Be motivated by making sure AI is safe and beneficial for society as a whole.
• Be excited to transition into empirical AI research.

Details

• Duration: 4 months of full-time research (with possible extension).
• Start: cohort expected to start in January 2027 (some cases may accommodate other timelines).
• Workspace: shared workspace in Berkeley, California or London, UK.
• Compensation: weekly stipend of 3,850 USD / 2,310 GBP / 4,300 CAD (with 40 hours/week expectation).
• Funding: compute funding (~$15k/month) and other research expenses.
