Assistant Vice President - Senior Data Engineer

Overview

Senior individual contributor role as an AVP in Oaktree’s Information Solutions team, focused on integrating data operations into data engineering frameworks.

What you'll do

• Build and run ETL/ELT data pipelines, including data validation, exception handling, and data quality maintenance.
• Develop operational processes that integrate data operations into engineering pipelines for scalability and sustainability.
• Design data workflows for ingestion, transformation, analytics, and APIs, including semantic models and operational dashboards.
• Contribute to batch/real-time batch processing and a central data platform with self-service capabilities (integrations/orchestrations, governance, analytics).
• Build data products (e.g., Index Hub, MDM, Performance Dashboard, Job Monitoring Dashboard) and own delivery end-to-end.
• Implement modern engineering practices such as CI/CD, testing with DBT, data observability, and release management.

What you'll need

• 12+ years of experience in data operations, data quality, and monitoring system performance.
• Knowledge of the asset management industry and financial data concepts.
• Expertise in data pipeline architectures, data validation frameworks, and data governance processes.
• Familiarity with querying tools (e.g., SQL) and Python and .NET.
• Cloud knowledge, preferably Azure services (Azure DWH, ADLS, Azure DevOps, Azure Monitor, Azure Purview).
• Experience monitoring job schedules daily and sending alerts for load delays/SLAs.
• Ability to perform root cause analysis and coordinate with data engineering/development teams for corrective actions.
