Overview
Backend Senior Engineer role on the Clumio team, contributing to backend systems for the cloud-native data protection control and management plane.
What you'll do
- Design, build, and operate backend services for core platform capabilities like control planes, user-access management, and backup workflows.
- Own features/components from implementation through production operations and improve them using usage and operational signals.
- Contribute to service design and API development, making trade-offs across correctness, scalability, cost, and maintainability.
- Write and review production-quality code and diagnose and resolve complex backend issues.
- Participate in on-call and operational responsibilities.
- Collaborate with Product, QA, customer-facing teams, and others to clarify requirements and ensure production readiness.
What you'll need
- Bachelor's degree required.
- 4+ years of professional software engineering experience with ownership from implementation through production operation.
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language: Go (preferred), Python, Java, or Rust.
- Experience building and operating non-trivial production systems, including diagnosing issues and improving implementations.
- Ability to translate loosely defined requirements into correct, maintainable technical solutions.
- Highly collaborative and self-driven, able to work with cross-functional and geographically distributed teams.
