Overview
Work on the software stack running inside Arctic Wolf’s network sensors, including physical appliances and virtual sensors deployed across customer environments. Build and maintain on-sensor services and tooling, AWS infrastructure, CI/CD systems, and automation for sensors that run 24/7 without human intervention.
What you'll do
- Build and maintain on-sensor Go and Python services, including daemons, config managers, upgrade pipelines, and tunneling infrastructure.
- Own AWS infrastructure used for sensor management, including ECS services, CloudFormation stacks, EC2 instances, S3 artifact pipelines, and CloudWatch observability.
- Improve and extend the CI/CD platform, including Jenkins pipelines, Docker build environments, and Robot Framework cell tests.
- Run Robot Framework cell tests that spin up virtual sensors on AWS, Azure, and VMware and validate end-to-end behaviour.
- Debug kernel networking, including eBPF/XDP, Suricata, and iptables.
- Debug multi-platform VM orchestration, Ansible-based sensor provisioning, and production incidents traced through CloudWatch Logs Insights.
- Contribute to sensor upgrade and deployment automation, including Ansible, Debian packaging, and manifest-driven rollouts.
- Work across the full stack, from BPF maps pinned on a sensor’s kernel to ECS services in AWS serving REST APIs to the portal.
What you'll need
- 3–5 years of professional software development experience.
- Strong AWS hands-on experience with EC2, ECS, including Fargate and EC2 launch types, S3, CloudWatch including Logs, Metrics, and Alarms, CloudFormation or CDK, and IAM.
- Proficiency in Python, including writing production services, CLI tooling, and test automation with Robot Framework or pytest.
- Comfort with Linux systems programming, including systemd, networking such as iptables, interfaces, and routing, Debian packaging, and shell scripting.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or equivalent, and Docker-based build environments.
- Strong debugging skills, including tracing a production problem from a CloudWatch log through to a root cause in code.
Nice to have
- Ansible for fleet configuration and provisioning.
- Networking depth, including VLANs, SPAN/TAP modes, DHCP, and tunneling protocols such as FRP and WireGuard.
- eBPF/XDP or kernel networking, including Suricata, nmap, and packet capture.
- Experience with VMware, Hyper-V, or Azure for infrastructure testing.
- Familiarity with sensor/appliance software or embedded Linux.
