Director of Software Engineering

Overview

Director of Software Engineering for SupplyHouse.com in India, reporting into the VP of IT. Own the technical vision and lead a software engineering organization that builds and scales systems for the e-commerce business.

What you'll do

• Define and execute a multi-year engineering and architecture strategy aligned with company goals.
• Guide system design and architectural decisions for scalability, performance, and resilience.
• Oversee Site Reliability Engineering to ensure operational excellence and system uptime.
• Lead and develop engineering leaders and teams, including Engineering Managers and senior technical leaders.
• Drive execution and delivery at scale with consistent, high-quality outcomes across teams.
• Establish and track engineering metrics to improve performance, quality, and team health.
• Collaborate with Product and Operations to prioritize work and deliver customer impact.

What you'll need

• 15+ years of progressive software engineering experience.
• 10+ years leading teams and managing managers.
• Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and align multiple teams around shared goals.
• Experience designing and delivering complex, scalable systems in cloud environments.
• Strong foundation in system design, architecture, and modern engineering best practices.
• Technical depth in Java, Spring Boot, microservices architecture, and MySQL/Oracle/Redis.
• High-level written and verbal communication proficiency in English.

• Role type: Full-Time.
• Location/work mode: Remote from India.
• Schedule: Monday through Friday, 4:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. U.S. Eastern Time / 1:30 p.m.–10:30 p.m. Indian Standard Time.
• Travel: Occasional travel within India; travel to Melville, NY up to once per year.
