Field Applications Engineer (FAE)

Overview

Field Applications Engineer (FAE) role supporting customer adoption and application of FPGA solutions.

What you'll do

• Identify, influence, and enable adoption of Altera FPGA-based solutions at key accounts.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Field Sales, other FAEs, factory engineers, marketing, and business development.
• Cultivate customer engineering relationships to develop and expand opportunities.
• Apply deep FPGA product knowledge to drive sales and seed growth.
• Provide technical assistance for architecture definition, evaluation, and FPGA-based design using tools and IP.
• Develop and deliver product demonstrations and support on-site customer visits for design reviews.
• Resolve or escalate technical issues by analyzing data, reproducing errors, and facilitating timely feedback.

What you'll need

• Experience as a hardware engineer (example given: 3+ years).
• Experience with FPGA, ASIC, and/or digital design.
• Experience with FPGA development tools such as Quartus or Vivado.
• Experience with VHDL or Verilog or SystemVerilog or OpenCL or HLS tools.
• A BSEE or related electrical/electronic degree.

Nice to have

• Post Bachelor’s degree.
• Experience in technical sales, applications, technical marketing, or technical product marketing.
• Additional industry experience (e.g., embedded SoC, board level design, DSP, signal integrity).

• Compensation range: $150.9K–$218.4 USD in a sales role with salary + incentive.
