GCP Cloud Senior Engineer

Overview

Deploy, operate and secure Google Cloud Platform infrastructure for customer cloud migration, modernization and managed-services engagements.

What you'll do

• Deploy, configure and manage cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform.
• Support cloud migration and modernization projects from on-premises and other cloud environments.
• Implement compute, storage, networking and security solutions on GCP.
• Ensure cloud environments are optimized for performance, scalability and cost efficiency.
• Manage and support GCP services including Compute Engine, Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, BigQuery, VPC, Load Balancers, IAM, and Cloud Monitoring & Logging.
• Perform system administration, patching and operational support activities.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure, networking and application-related issues.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform.
• Automate deployment and operational processes.
• Support CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub, GitLab, Jenkins or Cloud Build.
• Implement monitoring, alerting and backup strategies.
• Implement cloud security best practices.
• Configure IAM policies, service accounts and access controls.
• Ensure adherence to security, compliance and governance standards.
• Participate in vulnerability remediation and security audits.
• Collaborate with customers, architects and project managers throughout delivery engagements.
• Participate in solution implementation, testing and production go-live activities.
• Prepare technical documentation, implementation guides and operational runbooks.
• Provide post-deployment support and knowledge transfer sessions.

What you'll need

• Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Experience with Compute Engine, GKE (Google Kubernetes Engine), Cloud Storage, VPC & Networking, IAM & Security, Cloud SQL, BigQuery, and Monitoring & Logging.
• Knowledge of Linux/Windows administration.
• Understanding of DNS, Load Balancing, VPN and Firewall concepts.
• Experience with Terraform or similar IaC tools.
• Exposure to Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with CI/CD tools and deployment automation.
• Scripting knowledge in Python, Shell or PowerShell.
• Familiarity with Git-based version control systems.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering or related field.
• 4+ years of IT infrastructure, cloud or systems engineering experience.
• 2+ years of hands-on GCP implementation and support experience.

Nice to have

• Google Associate Cloud Engineer Certification.
• Google Professional Cloud Architect Certification is an added advantage.
• Experience in cloud migration, managed services or cloud operations environments.
• Knowledge of AWS or Azure.
