Lead, Frontier Red Team (Cyber)

Overview

Lead Anthropic’s mission-driven defensive cybersecurity research for frontier AI capabilities, directing both strategy and execution across offensive/defensive exploration, prototype defenses, and public/government engagement.

What you'll do

• Oversee the overall defensive cybersecurity vision for Anthropic.
• Hire and lead a world-class research team.
• Design an AGI cybersecurity research program to secure the world.
• Drive frontier-lab execution for research at scale, speed, and quality.
• Partner with Training, Safeguards, and Policy to address cybersecurity opportunities.
• Identify and coordinate field partners for joint projects.
• Publish and share research for maximum impact, avoiding low-impact work.

What you'll need

• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
• Field relevant to the role as demonstrated via coursework, training, or professional experience.
• Required years of experience will correlate with internal job level requirements (minimum years not specified).

Details

• Location: based in San Francisco.
• Expect some travel (at least) to Washington DC.
• Compensation range: $485,000–$755,000 USD annually.
