Principal Software Engineering Manager - AI Engineering (Position located in Bengaluru, India)

Overview

Principal Software Engineering Manager for AI Engineering, leading full-stack AI engineering efforts end-to-end for products.

What you'll do

• Lead, mentor, and grow a full-stack AI engineering team across data science, ML engineering, software engineering, and data engineering.
• Define technical vision across the stack, including model architectures, services, data pipelines, and production-readiness standards.
• Drive design and deployment of LLM/SLM architectures and agentic systems, including RAG, fine-tuning, orchestration, and evaluation pipelines.
• Own AI outcomes end-to-end from data ingestion and feature pipelines through modeling, serving, and APIs/product surfaces.
• Align teams on architectural principles and long-term technical goals and partner with Product Management on requirements.
• Establish best practices for experimentation, model evaluation, observability, and responsible AI.
• Set goals, manage roadmaps, and deliver outcomes tied to product metrics.

What you'll need

• 10+ years in data science, applied ML, and AI engineering.
• 3+ years leading cross-functional teams that ship AI-powered products.
• Track record building and deploying AI systems including foundation models, ensemble architectures, RAG, and fine-tuning.
• Hands-on experience in ML/DL modeling, statistical analysis, and rigorous evaluation.
• Comfort leading across data engineering, ML, and backend services and APIs.
• Expertise in Python and the modern data/ML stack; comfort designing on AWS.
• Experience partnering on model serving, MLOps, and vector search.
