Overview
Security Software Engineer (L5) on Netflix’s Client Security & Protocols Engineering team, focusing on secure client-to-edge transport and authenticated client/device access.
What you'll do
- Design, build, and operate runtime provisioning services that authenticate Netflix client applications at scale.
- Contribute to the architecture and implementation of next-generation secure transport infrastructure.
- Collaborate to build end-to-end ownership from client to edge across client security and secure protocols domains.
- Partner with client engineering teams to build security capabilities across CE, mobile, and browser platforms.
- Validate security controls and ensure integrity of security capabilities from client to edge.
- Design and build distributed systems for secure authentication of Netflix clients and devices at scale.
What you'll need
- Experience building and operating distributed backend systems in high-availability, high-throughput environments.
- Strong foundational knowledge of C++ or Java.
- Familiarity with applied cryptography and cryptographic libraries including OpenSSL, Cryptolib, or BouncyCastle.
- Knowledge of cryptographic algorithms including AES-GCM and ECDSA (and familiarity with ML-DSA, EdDSA mentioned).
- A security mindset and ability to apply engineering rigor to security problems.
- Fluency with AI tools across the engineering workflow from design and implementation to security analysis and debugging.
- Proven end-to-end ownership across requirements, design, implementation, test, and managing in-field impact.
