Senior Software Engineer (Platform Engineering)

Overview

Senior Software Engineer in Platform Engineering within Product Development & Operations, helping build and evolve the Kubernetes-native, multi-tenant cloud platform (GWCP/Atmos) that underpins hundreds of services and AI-powered capabilities.

What you'll do

• Own things end-to-end: design the solution, ship it to production, and keep it running.
• Build core platform components that hundreds of services depend on.
• Design for elegance under complexity in workflows, automation and developer tooling.
• Collaborate across teams on technical designs, including RFCs and design docs.
• Contribute upstream to open-source tools by fixing them and sending PRs rather than forking.

What you'll need

• 8+ years building and operating systems in SaaS/PaaS environments at enterprise scale.
• Deep Kubernetes expertise, including schedulers, controllers, CRDs, networking and the broader ecosystem.
• Strong cloud fundamentals (AWS preferred, Azure/GCP also welcome).
• Proficiency in Go, Java, or Python with hands-on backend service development.
• Solid distributed systems intuition, including failure modes, consistency trade-offs and traffic spikes.
• Container-native mindset with Docker and related tooling.

Nice to have

• Battle-tested Terraform or CloudFormation experience.
• Comfort writing shell scripts where appropriate.
• Polyglot approach, choosing languages based on the problem and articulating trade-offs.
• Practice of TDD and pair programming.
• Opinions on platforms such as Mesos, Cloud Foundry, OpenShift, or serverless architectures.
