Senior Software Engineer – Tooling & Platform (Terraform)

Overview

Senior Software Development Engineer for Okta’s Cloud Tooling and Pipelines team, focused on the core Continuous Delivery platform and infrastructure automation.

What you'll do

• Design and develop scalable microservices and tools for the Continuous Delivery platform (including Spinnaker/Terraform/custom tooling components).
• Build infrastructure-as-code automation to provision/manage infrastructure and deploy with reliability.
• Architect and implement CD pipelines and Terraform-based IaC workflows for deployment scalability, reliability, and security.
• Develop high-quality automation software using Java, Python, or Go for well-tested microservices.
• Collaborate with DevOps and SRE teams to identify bottlenecks and lead automation improvements.
• Apply security by design across the tooling SDLC and mentor engineers.

What you'll need

• 4+ years professional experience in software development with automation/platform/microservices for cloud environments.
• 4+ years hands-on backend experience in Java, Go, Python, or similar.
• Strong understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with practical Terraform experience.
• Experience building/working with CI/CD platform development, including Spinnaker or similar.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes and ECS from a software development perspective.
• Proficiency with Docker and experience interacting with Linux and networking fundamentals.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or related) or equivalent professional experience.
