Overview
Develop embedded software for automotive Ethernet switches, covering functional safety, software architecture, automated testing, hardware-in-the-loop integration, and system performance optimization.
What you'll do
- Design and implement robust embedded software for Ethernet switches according to ISO 26262 ASIL B safety standards and coding guidelines such as MISRA C.
- Derive and document software requirements and test specifications from system-level requirements, ensuring full traceability within the V-Model process.
- Model and design software architecture using UML tools such as PlantUML, defining component interfaces, state machines, and sequence diagrams.
- Set up and maintain development environments, including IDEs and build systems.
- Set up and maintain automated test setups, including unit testing frameworks, to ensure high code quality and coverage.
- Conduct software integration testing and debugging on hardware-in-the-loop (HIL).
- Collaborate with Hardware, System Engineering, and Validation teams to troubleshoot interdisciplinary problems and optimize system performance.
What you'll need
- A university degree in Computer Engineering, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a comparable field.
- Minimum 9 years of hands-on embedded software design and development.
- At least 2–3 years in automotive or safety-critical domains.
- Expert-level C programming for RTOS and bare-metal development.
- Comfort working with microcontrollers, sensors, and lab equipment.
- Proficiency with debugging and tracing tools such as Lauterbach TRACE32, Vector CANoe, or JTAG/SWD.
- Proven experience with functional safety standards including ISO 26262 and ASIL B.
- Experience with automotive development processes including Automotive SPICE.
- Excellent teamwork, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities.
Nice to have
- Python skills for test automation.
- Basic understanding of Ethernet stack protocols.
