Software Engineer

Overview

Join Redwood Software's Product engineering team as a Software Engineer, Products & Platforms, contributing to the technical development, modernization, and reliability of the Workload Automation Platform. Design, develop, and enhance high-quality, scalable, and secure software that powers enterprise data exchange.

What you'll do

• Solve complex engineering problems, follow established best practices, participate in design reviews, and collaborate with peers.
• Contribute to the development, security, compliance, and observability of Java/Spring Boot microservices.
• Develop a solid understanding of the core platform and infrastructure.
• Contribute to platform resilience, component communication, and scalability.
• Facilitate and drive cross-team collaboration with Product, QA, and other engineering groups to ensure end-to-end alignment and successful product delivery.
• Research and apply AI/ML concepts to innovate and enhance Managed File Transfer and Workload Automation product capabilities, including intelligent routing, predictive maintenance, and enhanced security.

What you'll need

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 4–8 years of professional software engineering experience, with significant focus on high-scale products and platforms.
• Strong Java, Spring Boot, and REST API skills.
• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, and architecture principles.
• Practical experience deploying, maintaining, and developing solutions on a major cloud platform, with a good understanding of cloud concepts including networking, security, and cost efficiency.
• Expertise in building distributed SaaS systems, microservices, APIs, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms.
• Proven familiarity with AI/ML concepts and their usage, with practical experience or a strong conceptual understanding of how to apply these techniques to solve engineering problems.
• Strong understanding of modern DevOps practices, including CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code such as Terraform, and automated platform management.
• Strong working knowledge of container orchestration, specifically with EKS (Elastic Kubernetes Service), including inter-component communication and basic cluster operations.
• In-depth understanding of enterprise file transfer protocols such as SFTP, FTPS, and AS2, and secure communication protocols.
• Proven ability to contribute to key technical initiatives and collaborate effectively with engineering peers.
• Knowledge of agile development methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• AWS cloud platform experience is preferred.
• Experience with large-scale enterprise application integration, preferably with SAP.
