Software Engineer II

Overview

Lead individual contributor role within the AI/ML Engineering job family, focused on applied artificial intelligence solutions for Duck Creek's P&C insurance SaaS platform.

What you'll do

• Lead the design, development, and implementation of applied AI solutions to address complex business challenges, servicing multiple products.
• Architect applications and platforms that integrate with large language models (LLMs).
• Lead the design and development of highly available API services using Python and C#/.NET with at least one popular backend framework, e.g. ASP.NET, Django, Flask, etc.
• Stay updated on advancements in frameworks and AI models and identify opportunities to incorporate new tools and methodologies into projects.
• Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Evaluate and select appropriate AI models and techniques to achieve desired outcomes, considering model performance, scalability, and interpretability.
• Develop and maintain robust codebases, adhering to best practices for code quality, testing, and documentation.
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and support to junior developers and team members, fostering a culture of learning and knowledge sharing.
• Curate automated deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, delivering services and AI models into production environments, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.

What you'll need

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in software development.
• 3+ years of experience with cloud-native technologies and architecture including containerized compute, storage, IAM and service integration.
• Experienced in at least one popular LLM application framework, e.g. LangChain, Semantic Kernel and one vector database.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and analytical thinking abilities.
• Solid grasp of software engineering principles and best practices.
• Ability to craft clean, maintainable, and efficient code, emphasizing scalability and reusability.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in a team environment.
• Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated on industry trends and advancements.

• Location: Bengaluru, India. Role is aligned to this specific location; expected to reside within reasonable proximity.
• Flexible-first company; work may be performed remotely at the start of employment, subject to business needs, with a possible transition to a hybrid arrangement including working from a designated office on a schedule set by the leader.
• Participation in in-person collaboration moments as partnered with the leader.
