Overview

Staff Engineer, Backend responsible for architectural excellence and technical strategy across multiple backend product engineering pods.

What you'll do

• Drive architectural excellence and technical strategy across multiple pods.
• Design very low-latency systems for dynamic pricing and real-time critical workflows.
• Process large-scale inventory data across tens of thousands of products.
• Coordinate vendor ecosystem systems spanning almost half a million vendors.
• Lead reduction of technical debt to improve deployment stability and lower operational complexity.
• Own architecture decisions spanning multiple pods and teams.
• Conduct design reviews, code reviews, and provide mentorship.

What you'll need

• 7+ years of software development experience.
• At least 5+ years focused on backend systems and distributed architectures.
• Backend expertise in Spring Boot, Kotlin, and Java.
• Strong distributed systems fundamentals (e.g., scalability, fault tolerance, high availability, CAP theorem trade-offs).
• Hands-on experience with Kafka (or similar event-driven architectures) and databases including PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
• Experience with AWS cloud infrastructure and Redis for caching.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts and make architectural trade-offs.
