Overview
Staff/Principal Engineer who owns architecture and engineering delivery quality for AI-powered B2B SaaS products, working directly with Product leads.
What you'll do
- Own all architectural decisions across Node 20, Express, and TypeScript.
- Write and review production code (40–60% of time) and provide architectural oversight.
- Define engineering standards including code review gates, testing coverage, observability, and incident post-mortems.
- Lead technical decisions on LLM workflows, RAG pipelines, MCP integrations, and AI cost management.
- Own integration between the Node/TypeScript backend and Python automation layer to prevent cascading failures.
- Drive infrastructure maturity with DevOps, including IaC standards and AWS ECS Fargate migration.
- Allocate technical resources, sequence priorities, remove blockers, and improve delivery quality across the team.
What you'll need
- 7+ years of software engineering with experience owning architecture decisions and delivery machinery.
- Deep Node.js and TypeScript production experience, including debugging performance issues and optimizing queries.
- Experience designing and shipping distributed systems (async queues, caching layers, pub-sub, background job orchestration).
- Python experience sufficient to review architectural decisions and own automation integration boundaries.
- Technical leadership of a team of 5+ engineers, including resource allocation, sequencing, and delivery quality.
- Ownership of production incidents end-to-end (detect, diagnose, fix, post-mortem, and prevention).
Nice to have
- Production experience shipping LLM-powered features (prompt design, output validation, cost management).
- RAG pipeline or agentic system experience in production.
- MCP or A2A protocol experience.
- AWS ECS Fargate/ECR or equivalent container orchestration with IaC standards.
- Queue management experience in production (BullMQ, Redis, or Valkey).
- Grafana/Loki (or equivalent) observability implementation.
