Staff+ Software Engineer, Developer Productivity

Overview

Staff+ Software Engineer in Developer Productivity under Anthropic’s Infrastructure organization, owning the end-to-end experience for how engineers and researchers develop, build, test, and ship code at scale.

What you'll do

• Own the technical strategy and roadmap for your area and translate team goals into execution plans.
• Define infrastructure architecture and ensure complex problems get solved.
• Design and build scalable, reliable distributed infrastructure and shared libraries for high-volume workloads.
• Own and evolve build environments, package management, and dependency systems for fast, reproducible builds.
• Define and implement language ecosystem standards, tooling, and frameworks for developer productivity across research and production.

What you'll need

• Deep experience with build systems, CI/CD pipelines, and/or developer tooling in a large monorepo environment.
• Strong proficiency in Python, Rust and/or Go.
• Demonstrated experience obsessed with developer productivity and reducing friction in the software development lifecycle.
• Experience with container orchestration and infrastructure at scale.
• Excellent communication skills and willingness to support internal partners.
• Ability to design foundational systems and work independently on ambiguous, high-impact challenges.

Details

• Annual salary range: $405,000–$625,000 USD.
• Work mode: hybrid; expected to be in an office at least 25% of the time.
• Visa sponsorship: sponsored for some roles/candidates.
