Staff Software Engineer, Marketplace Acquisition

Overview

Staff Software Engineer on the Marketplace Acquisition team at Zocdoc, owning the systems behind patient acquisition and engagement, including SEO infrastructure, provider profile and practice page experiences, and the APIs and services that deliver patient-facing data at scale.

What you'll do

• Lead the technical direction of Zocdoc's acquisition platform, enhancing system stability and user experience
• Guide technical discussions and ensure decisions are scalable, dependable, and aligned with the team's mission
• Build scalable APIs and microservices that power frictionless data access and informed patient decision-making
• Evolve the SEO infrastructure that powers thousands of patient-facing pages
• Iterate on provider profile and practice page designs with Design counterparts to create seamless, trustworthy experiences
• Engage with Product counterparts to align on vision, strategy, and execution, and deliver business value
• Mentor engineers and drive team excellence through coding standards, automation, and continuous improvement
• Bring AI into day-to-day development and contribute to the standards, guardrails, and review practices the organization is building
• Lead innovation initiatives centered on AI, leveraging emerging data sources and architectures

What you'll need

• Experience owning and evolving complex, user-facing platforms end-to-end, balancing rapid delivery with long-term technical vision
• Experience designing and building performant systems with search engine optimization (SEO) and page speed as top priorities
• Experience architecting full-stack solutions spanning backend APIs, AWS-based infrastructure, and React systems that are modular and reusable across teams
• Experience integrating with third-party data sources and content management systems, such as Contentful
• Experience leveraging large language model (LLM) systems to transform raw user data into actionable insights
• Experience driving engineering excellence through best-in-class practices in testing, CI/CD, observability, and system performance optimization
• Experience mentoring and collaborating across distributed teams, promoting strong technical foundations and clear communication
• Product-driven, with a relentless focus on user needs and experience partnering with cross-functional teams from early ideation
• Passionate about engineering excellence, including code quality, testing, and long-term maintainability
• Strong ownership and ability to thrive in an ambiguous, fast-changing environment

• Remote, USA
• Remote base salary range: $180,000 to $265,000 USD
• Certain positions are also eligible for variable pay and/or equity
