Staff Software Engineer, Platform & Infrastructure

Overview

Staff Software Engineer on Okta's Platform & Infrastructure team, owning the internal developer platform that powers all of Okta Engineering, including CI/CD pipelines, build-and-test orchestration, and multi-cloud infrastructure.

What you'll do

• Design, code, and operate the next generation of the CI/CD platform, primarily using Go (Golang) and Python.
• Orchestrate complex, ephemeral build, test, and deployment workflows at massive scale using Kubernetes.
• Build services and automation that manage workloads across AWS, GCP, and Azure, optimizing for cost, speed, and reliability.
• Create robust, self-service internal products that treat internal developers as first-class customers.
• Build and scale the build and CI systems, shrinking distributed compute jobs from hours or days down to minutes.
• Mentor other engineers and set technical direction for major platform initiatives.

What you'll need

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering.
• Strong software engineering skills with proven experience building and maintaining complex systems in Go (Golang) and/or Python.
• Deep, practical experience building, running, and troubleshooting workloads on Kubernetes, including pods, operators, scheduling, and networking.
• Experience architecting, building, and/or significantly scaling CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab, Tekton, ArgoCD) as a platform for other engineers.
• Demonstrable experience working with major cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure) and understanding of their core services.
• Fluency with Docker, container registries (such as Artifactory), and modern build systems (such as Gradle or Bazel).
• Customer-obsessed platform mindset with a proven ability to lead complex, cross-functional projects to completion.
• B.S. in Computer Science, equivalent technical experience, or a proven track record of shipping systems.
