Overview

Mechanical Engineer to design, develop, and validate HDD mechanical components and assemblies for data storage solutions.

What you'll do

• Design precision mechanical components for HDD systems including HSA, actuators, base castings, and enclosures.
• Develop parts using advanced CAD (SolidWorks/NX) with tight tolerances.
• Apply GD&T for drawings and 3D models to meet functional requirements.
• Perform FEA and modal analysis for shock resistance, stiffness optimization, and resonance avoidance.
• Design test fixtures, define test protocols, and execute environmental testing (shock, vibration, thermal cycling).
• Drive failure mode analysis and implement corrective actions using FMEA and root cause analysis.
• Collaborate with recording heads, media, firmware, and servo teams for system integration.

What you'll need

• Minimum 5 years of actual work experience designing and validating mechanical components/assemblies.
• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience with precision mechanical design, preferably in the HDD industry with proven product delivery.
• Experience with high-volume consumer electronics or medical devices.
• Knowledge of head-disk interface (HDI) and aerodynamics.
• Experience with contamination control/particle management.
• Strong skills in SolidWorks/NX CAD and GD&T for tight-tolerance assemblies.
