About this course
Verbal ability is the section candidates lose marks on without ever finding out why. Unlike quantitative aptitude, there is no working to check — you either knew the word, spotted the relationship, or picked the wrong option on instinct. That makes it a retrieval problem, and retrieval improves with testing rather than reading. This course is built as practice questions with immediate explanations, so each miss becomes a specific thing you now know.
What it covers
Ten topics: how verbal ability is tested in competitive exams and a vocabulary-building approach, then synonyms and antonyms, analogies and word relationships, one-word substitution, idioms and phrases, fill in the blanks, para-jumbles and sentence ordering, word formation and roots, and verbal reasoning including odd-one-out and verbal classification. A closing topic covers concept comparisons and applied scenarios.
Who this is for
Students preparing for campus placement tests, CAT and other MBA entrances, banking and SSC exams, and anyone whose English is functional but who loses marks on vocabulary and sentence-order questions under time pressure. No grammar theory is assumed — if you want the rules themselves, the English Grammar course covers them directly.
How MCQ practice works on Abekus
The course is organised as topics, subtopics, and individual lessons. Each lesson pairs a short set of explanation cards with practice questions written for that lesson, so the questions test the idea you just read rather than a general survey. Wrong answers come with a worked explanation, and the AI guide surfaces the mistakes you keep repeating.
