Application Engineer, Aladdin Product Engineering, Vice President

Overview

As a VP, Application Engineer for BlackRock’s Aladdin Product Engineering team, you’ll lead hands-on engineering for enterprise-scale back-end systems powering Aladdin Accounting Retail fund operations.

What you'll do

• Design and develop robust, high-performance back-end systems.
• Lead design discussions, code reviews, and architecture sessions hands-on.
• Build and maintain microservices and event-driven systems for large-scale financial data.
• Develop data integration and pipeline components across Snowflake, SQL Server, and streaming platforms.
• Implement and optimize Redis-based caching and data stores for low-latency access.
• Champion code quality, testing, automation, and performance tuning practices.
• Mentor engineers and evaluate appropriate AI/GenAI capabilities for engineering and operational improvements.

What you'll need

• 8+ years of professional experience in Java and object-oriented design.
• B.S./M.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
• Strong knowledge of Spring Boot, REST APIs, and enterprise integration patterns.
• Deep expertise in SQL Server, including stored procedures, performance tuning, and data modelling.
• Experience with Redis for caching or data persistence.
• Hands-on exposure to Kafka (or similar publish-subscribe systems).
• Familiarity with Snowflake and data pipeline concepts (ETL, batch vs. streaming).
