Application Engineer, Vice President

Overview

Application Engineer (Vice President) to build and package software for BlackRock’s investment operating system, Aladdin, used internally and by external financial institutions.

What you'll do

• Collaborate with team members across a multi-office, multi-country environment.
• Deliver high-efficiency, high-availability, concurrent and fault-tolerant software systems.
• Contribute to development of Aladdin’s global, multi-asset trading platform.
• Leverage AI in code generation, code analysis and test automation.
• Define product roadmap with product management and business users.
• Design and develop solutions to complex problems while applying quality software engineering practices.
• Provide resilience and stability via code reviews, testing, dev ops, and level two production support.

What you'll need

• 8+ years of proven experience.
• Strong foundation in core Java and related technologies including multi-threading, design patterns, and reactive/event-driven design.
• Hands-on object-oriented programming knowledge in Java, Spring, Microservices, distributed systems, and big data platforms.
• Strong knowledge of open-source stack including Spring, Hibernate, Maven, and JUnit.
• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases (e.g., Apache Cassandra).
• Exposure to large-scale, highly performant enterprise application design and technical quality ownership.

Nice to have

• Experience integrating AI LLM/models for agentic capabilities.
• Exposure to cloud platforms like Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
• Experience with Python and front-end frameworks like Angular/React.
• Experience with DevOps and BDD testing frameworks such as cucumber, and Azure DevOps tools.

• Hybrid work model: at least 4 days in the office per week and 1 day working from home.
