Overview
As an AR Billing Accountant on the Finance and Accounting shared services team, you will own customer billing for complex, non-standardized contracts. You will work with U.S.-based account managers and operations teams to ensure customers are billed accurately and on time, while supporting close activities and accounting controls.
What you'll do
- Read and interpret customer contracts to determine correct billing treatment rather than following a fixed template or standardized process.
- Prepare and issue customer billing, including intercompany credit card statement billing.
- Communicate directly with U.S.-based account managers on billing questions and contract terms.
- Perform month-end billing reconciliations.
- Partner with operations to resolve contract interpretation questions and relay accurate information back to customers.
- Support month-end and quarter-end close activities related to billing.
- Identify opportunities to improve billing processes as customer and contract dynamics evolve.
- Work independently, performing professional accounting activities related to general accounting.
- Control, monitor, and review accounts to ensure accuracy, proper documentation, and compliance with all pertinent procedures and regulations.
- Prepare monthly/quarterly journal entries and account reconciliations as assigned.
- Support management with ad hoc requests.
- Partner with managers and internal teams to maintain processes and controls related to assigned areas of work.
- Ensure compliance with all internal policies, relevant regulations, and accounting principles.
What you'll need
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or equivalent experience in a corporate accounting environment.
- 2+ years of experience in a corporate accounting or billing role.
- General understanding of accounting fundamentals, including accrual vs. cash basis and payables.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proven experience working with U.S.-based business teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work independently in a dynamic, virtual environment.

- More experience.
- Experience with non-standardized or complex billing, including reading and interpreting contracts.
- Experience with NetSuite and FloQast, or a comparable large ERP such as SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft, or Microsoft Dynamics, or BlackLine.
- CPA, CA, or ACCA certification.

- Workplace type: Remote.
- Working hours: 8 hours, excluding breaks.
- Work 4 core U.S. hours overlapping from 7:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. IST, plus 4 flexible hours in IST.
- Work from a quiet space with an internet connection of at least 30 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload.
