Job description

Overview

Senior technical administrator responsible for the reliable, secure, scalable operation and evolution of Zillow's Atlassian platform, owning complex administration across Jira, Confluence, Jira Service Management, Loom and related Atlassian capabilities.

What you'll do

  • Administer and evolve enterprise Atlassian Cloud products, including Jira, Confluence, Loom, and connected Marketplace applications.
  • Design, configure, and maintain complex Jira projects, issue types, workflows, screens, fields, permissions, notification schemes, automations, reporting structures, and Confluence spaces.
  • Lead technical discovery and solution design for advanced configuration, workflow, and integration requests, ensuring solutions align with platform standards, security requirements, and long-term maintainability.
  • Own complex incidents and escalations, diagnosing issues across Atlassian configuration, identity, browser and desktop environments, APIs, integrations, and third-party applications.
  • Partner with Identity and Access Management teams on SSO, SCIM, group-based provisioning, service-account lifecycle management, privileged access, and auditability.
  • Develop and maintain automations, API-based solutions, and operational tooling that reduce manual work and improve support quality, reliability, license efficiency, and customer self-service.
  • Lead administration of platform licensing, including usage analysis, reclamation processes, exception management, capacity forecasting, and controls that minimize unused paid seats.
  • Govern Marketplace app and integration requests through technical assessment, security and compliance review, vendor coordination, configuration, implementation, and ongoing operational support.
  • Establish and maintain platform standards, reusable patterns, configuration guardrails, runbooks, and technical documentation.
  • Support the Jira Space Administrator program and other delegated-administration models by defining safe self-service boundaries, enablement materials, and escalation paths.
  • Plan and execute testing, change management, release readiness, and post-release validation for platform capabilities and significant configuration changes.
  • Analyze support and platform data to identify recurring friction, prioritize improvements, and communicate operational health, risks, and outcomes to stakeholders.
  • Mentor junior administrators and support engineers through troubleshooting, technical reviews, documentation, and knowledge transfer.

What you'll need

  • 5+ years of experience in SaaS administration, enterprise application support, systems administration, or IT operations, including substantial hands-on Atlassian administration experience.
  • Deep, practical experience administering Jira and Confluence in an enterprise Atlassian Cloud environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise designing and maintaining complex Jira configurations, including workflows, schemes, permissions, custom fields, automations, dashboards, and reporting.
  • Experience with Atlassian administration across user management, organization administration, licensing, product access, and governance controls.
  • Strong knowledge of identity and access management concepts, including SSO, SAML, SCIM, group-based provisioning, service accounts, and least-privilege access.
  • Experience diagnosing and resolving complex issues across SaaS platforms, integrations, REST APIs, authentication, provisioning, and enterprise end-user environments.
  • Experience designing or supporting integrations between Atlassian products and enterprise systems such as Slack, Google Workspace, ServiceNow, Workday, Salesforce, GitHub, or GitLab.
  • Ability to use automation and scripting to solve operational problems, such as Jira Automation, REST APIs, JSON, Python, JavaScript, or low-code workflow tools.
  • Strong written communication skills, including the ability to create clear technical documentation, runbooks, standards, and stakeholder-facing guidance.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently prioritize work, lead technical initiatives, and communicate trade-offs, risks, and recommendations to technical and non-technical partners.

Nice to have

  • Atlassian Cloud certifications, such as Jira Administration for Cloud or Confluence Administration.
  • Experience with Jira Service Management, Assets, Atlassian Guard, Atlassian Analytics, Compass, Atlassian Teams, or Atlassian Goals.
  • Experience supporting enterprise-scale user populations, multi-product licensing, and formal controls or compliance requirements.
  • Experience evaluating and governing Marketplace applications, vendor integrations, and third-party security considerations.
  • Familiarity with ITSM, ITIL, incident management, change management, problem management, and knowledge management practices.
  • Experience leading migrations, large-scale configuration standardization, or platform modernization initiatives.
