Azure Administrator

Overview

Senior Cloud Administrator to design, deploy and manage multi-cloud infrastructure across Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS), with a focus on architecture, automation, security and cost optimization.

What you'll do

• Administer, monitor and maintain cloud infrastructure across Azure and AWS environments
• Design and implement scalable, secure and highly available cloud architectures
• Manage identity and access management (IAM/Azure AD) including RBAC, SSO and MFA policies
• Monitor system performance, availability and capacity using tools such as Azure Monitor, CloudWatch and third-party solutions
• Manage virtual networks, VPNs, load balancers and hybrid connectivity (ExpressRoute, Direct Connect)
• Implement and maintain backup, disaster recovery and business continuity plans
• Manage cloud security posture: patching, vulnerability management and compliance (ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR, etc.)
• Optimize cloud spend through rightsizing, reserved instances and cost governance
• Administer storage solutions (Azure Blob/Files, AWS S3/EBS/EFS)
• Support CI/CD pipelines and collaborate with DevOps teams on deployment automation
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure and connectivity issues
• Maintain documentation for architecture, processes and runbooks
• Mentor junior administrators and provide technical guidance across teams
• Stay current with emerging cloud technologies and recommend improvements

What you'll need

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 10+ years of experience in cloud administration, with strong hands-on exposure to both Azure and AWS
• Proven experience managing enterprise-scale, multi-cloud or hybrid-cloud environments
• Strong knowledge of networking (VPC/VNet, subnets, routing, firewalls, VPN, DNS)
• Experience with IaC tools: Terraform, ARM/Bicep, CloudFormation
• Scripting proficiency: PowerShell, Bash, Python
• Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes/AKS/EKS)
• Solid understanding of cloud security best practices and compliance frameworks
• Experience with monitoring/logging tools (Azure Monitor, CloudWatch, Log Analytics, Datadog, etc.)
• Familiarity with backup/DR tools (Azure Site Recovery, AWS Backup)
• Required: Azure IaaS, including deploying and managing Virtual Machines, VM Scale Sets and Availability Sets/Zones
• Required: Configuring and managing Virtual Networks (VNet), subnets, VNet peering, NSGs, UDRs and Azure Firewall
• Required: Implementing Azure Load Balancer, Application Gateway and Traffic Manager
• Required: Managing Azure Storage (Blob, File, Disk, Queue, Table) including LRS/ZRS/GRS/RA-GRS redundancy
• Required: Configuring ExpressRoute, VPN Gateway and Site-to-Site/Point-to-Site VPNs
• Required: Managing disk encryption, Azure Backup and Azure Site Recovery
• Required: Azure PaaS, including App Services, Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, Azure Database for PostgreSQL/MySQL, AKS, Container Instances/Registry, API Management, Service Bus, Event Grid, Event Hub and Azure Data Factory
• Required: Azure security, including Entra ID Conditional Access, MFA, PIM and RBAC, Defender for Cloud, Key Vault, NSGs, Azure Front Door, Azure Firewall, WAF, DDoS Protection, Azure Policy and Blueprints
• Required: AWS administration of EC2, VPC, S3, RDS, Lambda, IAM, CloudFront and Route 53
• Required: AWS security best practices, including IAM policies, Security Groups, GuardDuty, AWS Config and CloudTrail
• Required: AWS Organizations, SCPs and multi-account governance
• Required: Automating operations with PowerShell, Azure CLI, AWS CLI and Python/Bash, and building IaC with Terraform, ARM/Bicep or CloudFormation
• Required: Integrating deployments with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins) and configuration management with Ansible or similar

Nice to have

• Azure Solutions Architect Expert, AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, or equivalent certification
• Experience with CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins)
• Experience with cost management tools (Azure Cost Management, AWS Cost Explorer)
• Knowledge of ITIL processes
