Category Buyer

Overview

Category Buyer role in Caterpillar's Procurement area, providing supply network solutions expertise using Quality, Cost, Logistics, Development, and Management (QCLDM) to deliver maximum value.

What you'll do

• Develop, manage and execute the category strategy, including managing policies, agreements, source catalogs, and special procurement programs.
• Recognize the potential for cost decreases, inventory reductions and quality improvement, and take responsibility for the soundness of business proposals and risk assessment.
• Act as the liaison between the organization and the supplier to communicate information explicitly, while considering production demands and suppliers' conditions.
• Document suppliers' performance on time sensitiveness and production, and maintain a strong relationship with suppliers.

What you'll need

• Bachelor's Degree from a Tier 1 University and College.
• Knowledge of data analytics techniques and processes for inspecting, cleansing, transforming, and modeling data.
• Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques.
• Knowledge of techniques for working with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.
• Knowledge of successful negotiation concepts and techniques.
• Knowledge of policies, standards and processes for managing and administering contracts.
• Knowledge of policies, regulations and processes of purchasing.
• Knowledge of supplier relationship management concepts and strategies.
• Knowledge of strategic sourcing methods, technologies and processes.

Details

• Location: Bangalore, Karnataka.
• Works onsite five days a week (5 working days from office).
• Relocation is available for this position.
