Overview
As a Cloud Platform Software Engineer, you will help build and run cloud infrastructure and platforms across a multi-cloud environment. You will support applications serving millions of customers and processing payments worldwide.
What you'll do
- Implement tasks within the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), receiving structure and oversight from more experienced staff.
- Follow well-established internal conventions and standard procedures.
- Apply internal standards and processes to make technical decisions.
- Collaborate with peers, manager, and project lead to understand tasks and review solutions.
- Contribute to code and design reviews.
- Adapt to new cloud and container platform technologies, build and release processes, and production topologies and architecture.
- Identify gaps in platform and process and work with the team to improve tools and workflows.
- Develop automation, dashboards, and monitoring and alerting to help reduce time to detect (TTD) and time to resolve (TTR) issues.
- Troubleshoot and fix issues as they surface.
- Support developer and production operations teams to unblock them and resolve customer-impacting incidents.
- Participate in a 24/7/365 on-call rotation supporting production operations.
- Learn and adopt new technologies that improve platform efficiency, reliability, and performance.
What you'll need
- 1+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2+ years of experience building scalable, high-performance services.
- Proficiency in Golang.
- Hands-on experience working with cloud providers such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform or Pulumi and automation.
- Working knowledge of shell scripting.
- Strong Linux systems fundamentals.
- Familiarity with distributed coordination systems such as Zookeeper, etcd, or Consul.
- Working knowledge of cluster managers such as Kubernetes or Docker Swarm.
- Strong understanding of fundamental distributed systems principles.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to identify performance bottlenecks.
Nice to have
- Hands-on experience with Docker or containerd.
- Contributions to open source projects.
- Experience running highly available, zero-downtime production platforms.

- Location: Bangalore, Karnataka, India.
- Balanced hybrid work model: 3 days in the office and 2 days at either the PayPal office or home workspace.
