Contractor Engineering Content Developer - PE Civil Construction

Overview

Kaplan is seeking remote contract subject matter experts who recently passed the PE Civil exam with a focus on Construction to author chapters and develop content for its new PE Civil Construction review manual.

What you'll do

• Write quiz questions and practice exam questions in the style of NCEES examinations, drawing from your recent exam experience.
• Develop and edit content specifically within the civil/construction engineering discipline for the new PE Civil review manual.
• Collaborate with the team to ensure the review manual is comprehensive and effective for candidates preparing for the PE Civil Construction exam.
• Potentially contribute to suggested study plans and provide feedback on customer expectations for study and preparation for the PE Civil Construction exam.
• Perform quality assurance reviews and technical reviews of authored content.

What you'll need

• Excellent command of the English language, both verbal and written.
• Recently taken and passed the computer-based testing (CBT) format of the PE Civil exam, specifically the Construction section.
• Active PE Certification issued by NCEES in Civil Engineering.
• Exceptional attention to detail, organization skills, and time management skills.
• Prompt and responsive communication, mostly by email.
• Occasional video chat meetings during business hours may be required.
• Highly motivated and proactive in developing high-quality content.
• Receptive to feedback, meets deadlines, and takes accountability for deliverables.

Nice to have

• Experience tutoring, mentoring, or educating engineering students or colleagues, particularly in civil or construction engineering.
• Experience creating multiple-choice questions, study materials, PowerPoint presentations, or other similar content.

Details

• Remote contract (1099) position, Remote/Nationwide, USA.
• Flexible hours, up to 20 per week; no set schedule other than project deadlines as assigned.
• Projects assigned via separate contracts with discrete schedules and deliverables.
• Contractors must supply their own equipment with Microsoft Word, and Adobe Reader or Professional, and MathType installed.
• Pay is per project based on contractor availability and experience, typically equivalent to $25-$50 per hour.
