We are seeking a Credit Assessor – Australian Mortgage to join our team in a Full-time role with OnSite work arrangements. In this position, you will assess mortgage applications from start to finish, ensuring each credit decision is accurate, compliant, and aligned with lending policies. You will play a key role in evaluating borrower suitability by interpreting financial information, verifying documentation, and identifying risk—supporting timely outcomes for both customers and brokers.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform credit assessment and mortgage credit evaluation for residential home loan applications.
- Conduct Australian Mortgage Underwriting using established AUS lending standards and lending guidelines.
- Review loan documentation for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to lending guidelines & compliance.
- Assess and calculate serviceability, including self-employed income calculation and income verification for individuals, companies, and trusts.
- Undertake credit risk analysis, including fraud detection & risk assessment and identification of inconsistencies.
- Verify KYC requirements and ensure proper recordkeeping across the mortgage operations workflow.
- Support residential mortgage processing by coordinating with internal teams and ensuring applications progress efficiently.
- Maintain strong stakeholder management practices, including broker coordination, to resolve information gaps promptly and professionally.
- Document decisions clearly and consistently to support transparent credit outcomes.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Proven capability in Australian Home Loan Processing and end-to-end mortgage operations.
- Strong experience with mortgage credit evaluation and credit assessment across typical lending scenarios.
- Working knowledge of loan documentation review, ensuring files meet compliance and quality standards.
- Competence in income verification (Individual / Company / Trust) and self-employed income calculation.
- Ability to perform fraud detection & risk assessment and apply risk controls effectively.
- Thorough understanding of lending guidelines & compliance, including AUS-aligned decisioning.
- Strong communication skills to manage broker coordination and resolve discrepancies with confidence.
- Familiarity with verification and assessment workflows used in Australian residential lending.
