Overview
As a Data Analyst, Payments, you’ll help optimize Stripe’s global network cost base by analyzing payment flows, translating cost specifications into billing models, and improving fee accuracy and explainability.
What you'll do
- Collaborate across engineering, accounting, financial partnerships, and product teams to analyze payments data.
- Translate network specifications into implementation instructions for billing models for scheme and interchange fees.
- Partner with Product, Engineering, and Finance to implement cost-saving opportunities and explain cost and margin trends.
- Monitor and validate fee accuracy using validation and alerting.
- Create fee explainability for internal and external stakeholders and host education sessions.
- Introduce data and process efficiencies by identifying and automating inefficient operational processes.
- Drive design, documentation, and training of operational processes leveraging partner relationships.
What you'll need
- 4+ years of experience in Payments at a leading technology or payments company.
- Ability to write SQL to query relational databases.
- Experience managing communications and workflows with technical and non-technical teams.
- Experience navigating complex financial systems to solve large-scale technical challenges.
- Strong financial modeling and diagnostic skills to investigate and identify root causes.
- Experience managing multiple concurrent work streams and triaging technical issues with clear metrics.
Nice to have
- Experience in fast-paced environments such as high-growth fintech, tech, or management consulting.
- Experience mentoring junior team members in technical skill development and operational strategy.
- Experience working with PM, engineers, finance, or accounting teams.
- Experience handling tickets and adhering to operational targets and metrics.
