Overview
As a Senior Engineer in the India office, support and develop client data platforms with a focus on metadata management and data governance using enterprise tools such as Informatica Intelligent Data Management Cloud (IDMC).
What you'll do
- Run and support IDMC day to day, including Secure Agent management, connectivity, access control (asset groups, roles, SSO/SCIM provisioning), and environment promotion.
- Configure and troubleshoot metadata scans across cloud data warehouses, databases, CRM platforms, APIs and reporting tools, and resolve scan and profiling failures at scale.
- Build and maintain data quality rules, scorecards, business glossaries and data classifications, and keep them consistent across sources.
- Map end-to-end data flow across the enterprise so that data pipelines are visible and trusted.
- Use IDMC REST APIs, Python and bulk import/export to automate glossary loads, catalog clean-up, and governance workflows.
- Design, build, and maintain scalable and robust data pipelines using SQL and Python.
- Lead the integration of complex data systems and ensure consistency and accuracy of data across multiple platforms.
- Work closely with data architects, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical implementations.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior data engineers, ensuring high-quality project deliverables.
- Develop and enforce best practices in data governance, security, and compliance within the organisation.
- Optimise data retrieval and develop dashboards and reports for business teams.
- Continuously evaluate new technologies and tools to enhance the capabilities of the data engineering function.
What you'll need
- Hands-on experience with Informatica IDMC in production (CDGC, Metadata Command Center or Data Quality), including platform administration, metadata scanning and lineage.
- Experience designing, building, and maintaining scalable and robust data pipelines using SQL and Python.
- Experience leading the integration of complex data systems and ensuring consistency and accuracy of data across multiple platforms.
- Ability to work closely with data architects, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical implementations.
- Ability to provide guidance and mentorship to junior data engineers, ensuring high-quality project deliverables.
- Experience developing and enforcing best practices in data governance, security, and compliance within the organisation.
- Strong experience with a cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Awareness of concepts like containerization (Docker).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and support the growth of more junior members.
Nice to have
- A Master's degree or PhD in a relevant field.
- Experience optimising data retrieval and developing dashboards and reports for business teams.
- Experience continuously evaluating new technologies and tools to enhance the capabilities of the data engineering function.
- Hands-on experience building and supporting solutions on one or more of Databricks, Snowflake, Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue, Apache Airflow or PySpark.
- Informatica certification (IDMC, CDGC or Data Quality) or experience with other catalogs such as Collibra, Purview or Alation.
