Data Science Analyst

Overview

Join Citi's North America Consumer Bank Data Science and Modeling team within Analytics and Information Management (AIM), building machine learning, deep learning and generative AI solutions that analyze large customer datasets to unlock business opportunities. The role reports to the AVP / VP leading the team.

What you'll do

• Work with large and complex datasets using Python, PySpark, SQL, Hive and other tools to build deep learning and generative AI solutions for business requirements.
• Carry out model training or fine-tuning, model validation, model deployment and model governance across multiple portfolios.
• Design, fine-tune and implement LLM and GenAI applications using prompt engineering, Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) and model fine-tuning.
• Document data requirements, perform data collection, processing and cleaning, exploratory data analysis, and data visualization.
• Collaborate with team members and business partners to build model-driven solutions using Generative AI models and, at times, ML and traditional methods (XGBoost, Linear, Logistic, Segmentation, etc.).
• Work with model governance and fair lending teams to ensure models comply with Citi standards.
• Assess risk appropriately when business decisions are made, drive compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, and escalate and report control issues with transparency.
• Create client-centric analytic solutions and own and deliver multiple complex analytic projects, from converting business problems into modeling frameworks to implementing solutions.
• Coach and mentor juniors and contribute to organizational initiatives such as competency development and training.

What you'll need

• Bachelor's Degree with 6-7 years of experience in data analytics, or Master's Degree with 4-5 years of experience in data analytics, or PhD.
• Hands-on experience in PySpark, Python or R programming along with strong experience in SQL.
• 6-7 years of experience working with machine learning and statistical modeling techniques.
• Understanding of deep learning and GenAI techniques.
• Experience working with large and multiple datasets, data warehouses, and pulling data using relevant programs and coding.
• Strong background in statistical analysis, including proficiency in basic statistics, hypothesis testing, segmentation and predictive modeling.
• Capability to validate and maintain deployed models in production.
• Experience in GenAI and machine learning software frameworks.
• Strong communication skills, multiple stakeholder management, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Information Technology, Computer Applications, Engineering or similar from a premier institute.

Nice to have

• Experience in Credit Cards and Retail Banking.
