DevOps Engineer

Overview

Hybrid DevOps Engineer role within the HPE Hybrid Cloud organization, supporting build, release, and automation infrastructure for the GreenLake cloud platform.

What you'll do

• Participate in architecture, design, and implementation of build and development infrastructure and methodologies
• Assist in management and automation of the build and release process, including packaging build artifacts and collateral
• Maintain and extend development environments and frameworks, integrating them with Supply Chain / SCM, Defect Tracking, and Continuous Integration tools
• Contribute to infrastructure automation efforts using tools such as Docker and Ansible
• Develop and deliver training to engineering teams on development processes, build methodologies, and tools
• Provide daily support to engineers across release engineering tools, systems, and processes such as Git, Jenkins, Artifactory and JIRA
• Design, deploy, and support Kubernetes-based infrastructure and containerized applications
• Develop AI-powered automation, agents, and intelligent workflows to improve engineering productivity and operational efficiency
• Integrate engineering tools and services using Model Context Protocol (MCP), APIs, and modern automation frameworks
• Take a turn in a rotation as front-line support for tools and services (Admin duty)
• Investigate, plan and execute regular tooling and services refreshes for tools and shared infrastructure
• Perform other duties as assigned

What you'll need

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent
• Experience developing and maintaining release builds and packaging
• 3-5 years of experience developing and maintaining software using industry best practices to ensure quality and traceability
• Proficiency in Python
• Experience with virtualization technology (VMWare, VME, KVM)
• Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes
• Strong experience with Linux

Nice to have

• Experience with source code management tools (preferably Git)
• Experience with defect tracking tools (preferably JIRA)
• Experience with continuous integration tools (preferably Jenkins)
• Experience with Configuration Management tools like Chef, Ansible or Salt
• Experience with Linux build and packaging concepts, particularly Debian
• Experience with build tools such as Tup, GNU Make, CMake
• Hands-on experience with Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), and AI-assisted development tools
• Experience building AI agents, copilot, and workflow automation solutions, including integrations using Model Context Protocol (MCP), REST APIs, and related technologies
• Knowledge of Agile methodologies
• Experience integrating Open Source tools and software
• Experience with modern developer productivity tools such as VS Code and G
