Engineering Manager I, Threat Detection

Overview

Engineering Manager, Threat Detection leads a team that builds and executes Datadog’s threat detection program, including AI-accelerated detection and response.

What you'll do

• Lead the strategy, roadmap, and execution for AI-accelerated detection and response.
• Drive development of high-fidelity detections with shared responsibility across the organization.
• Build, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of engineers for threat detection at scale.
• Partner across threat detection and the broader Security organization to integrate deliverables reliably.
• Define and track program metrics such as detection coverage, signal quality, fidelity, evaluation pass rates, and incident response readiness.
• Collaborate with AI Engineering teams and internal AI initiatives on shared infrastructure and security tooling.
• Communicate progress, tradeoffs, and bets to security leadership and partner teams.

What you'll need

• Experience in security operations, detection engineering, or incident response roles.
• Building tooling and performing investigations and responding to incidents.
• Strong understanding of modern threat actor techniques and the detection engineering lifecycle.
• Ability to review detection logic and code (e.g., Python) and the architecture of security systems.
• Experience building automation systems for security operations workflows (e.g., detection platforms, alert triage, response automation, analyst tooling).
• Prior experience at a SaaS or cloud infrastructure company with security scale and complexity challenges.
• People leadership experience focused on mentorship, team growth, and inclusion.
