Engineering Manager – Java Full Stack & Cloud

Overview

Lead engineering teams delivering scalable, secure and reliable technology solutions, combining people leadership, technical delivery and Java full-stack expertise at Vanguard's Hyderabad technology center.

What you'll do

• Lead and develop engineering teams, providing coaching, performance guidance and technical direction.
• Drive end-to-end delivery of software solutions, ensuring alignment with business, quality, security and delivery objectives.
• Provide technical oversight across Java full-stack development, APIs, databases, cloud and modern web technologies.
• Partner with engineering and business stakeholders to define priorities, manage dependencies and resolve delivery challenges.
• Guide application design and development using modern engineering and microservices architecture practices.
• Promote strong SDLC, Agile, code quality, testing, security and CI/CD practices.
• Manage delivery risks, priorities, resources and dependencies across technology initiatives.
• Support architecture and technical decisions for scalable and reliable enterprise applications.
• Drive continuous improvement across development processes, engineering practices and team effectiveness.
• Build a collaborative, high-performing engineering culture through effective leadership, communication and mentoring.

What you'll need

• Minimum 8 years of experience in IT project management, Full-Stack development experience, or IT service delivery.
• Previous leadership experience required.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of people management experience, with demonstrated ability to lead, coach and develop technology professionals.
• Strong technical background in Java full-stack development, including Java, Spring Boot, JPA, RESTful APIs, GraphQL and microservices.
• Front-end development knowledge across HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Angular, Node.js, web components and AEM.
• Experience working with databases such as Oracle, SQL, DB2 and PostgreSQL.
• Strong cloud and infrastructure knowledge, particularly AWS.
• Strong understanding of Agile, SDLC, IT project/service delivery, risk management, IT governance, cybersecurity and compliance practices.
• Excellent people leadership, stakeholder management, communication, decision-making and problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

• PMP, ITIL or Agile certifications.
• Exposure to Python.
• Exposure to Google Cloud, Nginx and Akamai.
