What you'll do
- Design enhancements, updates, and programming changes for portions and subsystems of systems software.
- Analyze designs and determine coding, programming, and integration activities based on general objectives and overall product or solution architecture.
- Write and execute complete testing plans, protocols, and documentation for assigned application portions.
- Identify and debug issues with code and integration into application architecture, and create solutions.
- Lead project teams of software systems engineers and internal and outsourced development partners to develop reliable, cost-effective, and high-quality solutions.
- Collaborate and communicate with management, internal development partners, and outsourced development partners regarding software systems design status, project progress, and issue resolution.
- Represent the software systems engineering team through all phases of larger and more-complex development projects.
- Provide guidance and mentoring to less-experienced staff members.
What you'll need
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.
- Typically 6+ years experience.
- Strong expertise in x86 server firmware development with deep knowledge of BIOS/UEFI, EDK II, ACPI, SMBIOS, and platform initialization flows.
- Extensive understanding of Intel server CPU architectures, chipset technologies, memory subsystems, PCIe, RAS, security, and power management features.
- Proven experience working on large-scale enterprise and scale-up server platforms, including multi-socket systems and mission-critical infrastructure.
- Proficiency in C, C++, Python, and Shell scripting for firmware development, automation, debugging, and validation activities.
- Hands-on experience with firmware debugging tools, JTAG, hardware analyzers, crash dump analysis, and root-cause investigation.
- Strong knowledge of platform security technologies such as Secure Boot, TPM, certificate management, measured boot, and vulnerability remediation.
- Experience integrating and validating silicon features across BIOS, BMC, operating systems, and hardware components.
- Familiarity with Git/GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and modern AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot.
- Ability to drive complex technical investigations, collaborate across global engineering teams, and provide technical leadership for product releases.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and mentoring skills, with the ability to own critical firmware deliverables from design through production deployment.
