Head of Engineering Operations

Overview

Lead Engineering Operations to own the technical layer behind a field-to-cloud ingest pipeline for camera and sensor recordings.

What you'll do

• Own and maintain the ingest pipeline stations and replicate builds across locations.
• Manage ingest tooling in the field, including updates and troubleshooting.
• Define verification and media lifecycle rules for reusable cards.
• Act as escalation for failed/partial ingests and fix underlying causes.
• Own hardware fleet inventory with chain of custody and reconciliation.
• Lead quality control by investigating recording failures via controlled tests.
• Write Python and shell scripts to automate manual workflow steps.

What you'll need

• Technical background via an engineering/computer science degree or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Comfort with Linux for mounting/formatting media, filesystems, permissions, scheduled jobs, and logs.
• Working Python skills for scripting and directory traversal/API calls.
• Fluent use of AI tools (Claude, Claude Code, Cowork or equivalent) for scripting and investigation.
• Hardware troubleshooting approach: hypothesis, test, eliminate causes.
• Strong data integrity and chain-of-custody discipline.
• Clear written English to write procedures others depend on.

• On-site and field work is part of the role, with travel to deployment sites as needed.
