Overview
Hands-on senior software engineer position responsible for designing and building State Street Alpha cloud-based, open-architecture platform solutions. The role develops and maintains web-based software in a client/server environment using Java/J2EE and related technologies.
What you'll do
- Analyze and develop solutions to client needs within a team following the agile development approach.
- Maintain and support existing software applications.
- Consult with technical team, SQA and business analysts on functional specifications.
- Manage efforts within and outside the agile team to ensure tasks are completed successfully by deadlines.
- Design and develop reusable components for application UI and backend code.
- Write database queries and stored procedures while ensuring proper performance tuning.
- Analyze new requirements with minimal guidance and independently complete coding and unit testing.
- Anticipate critical issues and risks and take responsibility for resolution across the organization.
- Provide assessments of task duration, complexity, progress and risk to team leads.
- Work closely with Production Support and Client Support.
- Prepare systems documentation as needed.
What you'll need
- 10+ years of experience in development using Java/J2EE and related technologies.
- Bachelor of Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent.
- Expert-level knowledge and experience with Core Java version 8+.
- Experience with JEE technologies such as concurrency.
- Experience with JDBC, React JS, Oracle SQL/PLSQL, Spring Framework, Spring Boot, GIT and MQ/Kafka.
- Good familiarity with the Linux OS environment.
- Good knowledge and experience with data modeling and database development, including SQL and PL/SQL.
- Excellent programming, solid analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Solid communication skills.
- Ability to learn new technologies.
Nice to have
- Cloud-based development experience.
- Azure/AWS cloud knowledge.
- Tomcat Server experience.
- Veracode and Black Duck issue mitigation experience.
- Knowledge of the financial market domain, including derivatives, equities, fixed income mathematics, various asset classes and their characteristics, particularly with respect to market data, settlement and clearing.
