Junior Software Tester

About the role

We're looking for a Junior Software Tester to join our team in Madurai. You'll take ownership of testing activities across our product suite, writing comprehensive test cases, executing functional and regression tests, and ensuring quality standards are met before release.

What you'll do

• Design and execute test cases, test scenarios, and test plans across functional, regression, integration, smoke, and sanity testing phases
• Write detailed defect reports and log issues in Jira or similar bug-tracking tools with clear reproduction steps and severity assessment
• Perform database validation using SQL to verify data integrity and backend functionality
• Collaborate with developers and product teams to understand requirements and clarify test scope
• Document test results, maintain test logs, and contribute to continuous improvement of testing processes

What we're looking for

• 2–3 years of hands-on experience in manual software testing with proven track record of quality assurance
• Strong grasp of Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies
• Solid understanding of functional, regression, integration, smoke, and sanity testing techniques
• Proficiency in SQL for basic database queries and validation
• Familiarity with bug-tracking tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Bugzilla, or Redmine
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving mindset with meticulous attention to detail
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to document findings clearly
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team

Nice to have

• Experience with test management tools or automation frameworks
• Knowledge of API testing concepts
• Exposure to Agile or Scrum methodologies
