Job description

Overview

Lead civil engineering activities for large-scale Heavy Duty Gas Power and power plant projects, taking ownership of the civil engineering scope from proposal through project delivery. Partner with multidisciplinary teams, customers, external engineering partners and construction sites to deliver safe, high-quality, cost-effective and technically robust solutions.

What you'll do

  • Define the technical strategy and budget for civil design during the proposal phase, focusing on geotechnical risk assessment and optimized design assumptions.
  • Support the definition of civil works during the proposal phase.
  • Lead the end-to-end civil engineering lifecycle for Heavy Duty Gas Power projects.
  • Optimize infrastructure and foundations for GE Vernova’s equipment.
  • Review and validate complex civil design packages prepared by external partners against technical standards, project specifications and local regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the full subcontracting process for civil engineering services, including defining technical scope, evaluating tender offers and overseeing subcontractor performance, schedule and cost.
  • Coordinate as the primary civil engineering point of contact for mechanical, electrical and plant engineering disciplines.
  • Resolve critical technical interfaces and design challenges.
  • Provide technical support to civil construction sites.
  • Travel to project locations to troubleshoot field issues, review method statements and ensure design compliance during execution.
  • Track engineering deliverables and monitor civil material quantities.
  • Implement recovery plans to mitigate risks to the project schedule or budget.
  • Direct resource planning, budget forecasting (EAC) and approval of subcontractor payment milestones.
  • Escalate issues requiring the involvement of direct management and/or peers, including issues linked with Safety, Quality, Delivery or Costs.

What you'll need

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Significant professional experience in civil engineering, specifically within large-scale industrial or power plant projects.
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing civil design packages.
  • Demonstrated experience managing engineering subcontractors.
  • Ability to travel to international construction sites.
  • Ability to work effectively in a hybrid/home-office environment.

Nice to have

  • Experience in an EPC environment.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence multidisciplinary global teams.
  • Proven problem-solving skills in a fast-paced construction and engineering environment.
  • Familiarity with international building codes and geotechnical risk management.

  • Projects are located mainly in Asia, Europe and Middle East Africa, with the possibility to expand to America’s region.
  • International travel to project sites is required.
