Manager I, Engineering - Core Analytics

Overview

You will lead a small, hands-on engineering team building Datadog’s Core Analytics Data Access Platform for secure, scalable dataset access for Applied AI and analytics.

What you'll do

• Manage, mentor, and grow a team of 2–4 data engineers across Paris and NYC.
• Define architecture, engineering priorities, and the platform roadmap for the Data Access Platform.
• Contribute to design and code by coding, reviewing, and shipping critical platform components.
• Partner with Applied AI, Product Analytics, product managers, and platform teams on data contracts, APIs, and SLAs.
• Implement access controls, lineage, monitoring, and compliance guardrails for security and reliability.
• Evolve storage, processing frameworks, API patterns, and operational practices to scale adoption.

What you'll need

• Enjoy hands-on engineering management while acting as an active contributor to design and code.
• Experience building ETL/ELT, streaming and/or batch workflows, and production data servicing layers.
• Production experience with AWS, Spark, and Iceberg (or equivalent table formats and compute frameworks).
• Track record working with Applied ML teams, data scientists, and analytics consumers for model training and analysis data.
• Experience defining SLAs, building observability, running incident response, and enforcing data governance in production.
• Ability to balance short-term delivery with long-term architecture and make tradeoffs.
