Mechanical Design Engineer

Overview

Hitachi Energy is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for the Business Unit Transformers at the Global Engineering Center in Vadodara, India, to design innovative products and systems that meet customer needs and industry standards.

What you'll do

• Perform internal and external design of the transformer, including cleats and leads and/or core, active part and windings, and tank and externals, meeting factory limitations, guidelines and checklists as per IEEE, IEC and IS standards.
• Prepare customer documents, manufacturing drawings and bill of materials, and submit them to the customer as per project schedule.
• Coordinate design activities within a worldwide factories network.
• Participate in internal design concept reviews.
• Ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures and guidelines.

What you'll need

• B.E / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
• 0 to 8 years of experience in mechanical design for oil-filled power transformer manufacturing industry. Candidates with higher experience will also be considered.
• Knowledge of CAD software; knowledge of 3D modelling software is a must.
• Understanding of transformer design, mechanical calculations, dielectrics, clearance/creepage, basic layout and cleats lead arrangement.
• Good understanding of IS, IEC, IEEE and Canadian standards.
• Understanding of transformer mechanical design, thermal, dielectrics, short circuit and sound performance, and transformer mechanics.
• Ability to speak with and work together with technical teams in different parts of the world.
• Proficiency in both spoken and written English.

• Demonstrated team building and networking skills.
• Creo experience.
• Experience in winding design or tank and externals.
• Experience in simulation or software development.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and tools.
