Mobile Architect

Overview

Mobile Architect role focused on designing and driving secure, scalable mobile architecture for Okta’s identity and security mobile products.

What you'll do

• Define and champion the mobile architecture vision and long-term technical roadmap.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to senior engineers across teams.
• Lead architectural reviews and decision-making for foundational and core platform initiatives.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Security, and other Engineering leaders to convert requirements into architectural designs.
• Stay current on mobile trends and evaluate and recommend new architectural approaches, tools, and platforms.
• Contribute to high-level technical designs, architectural proposals, and organizational documentation.
• Oversee and participate in critical code reviews to ensure security, performance, and architectural best practices.

What you'll need

• 18+ years of software development experience, with at least 8 years setting technical direction and architecting large-scale enterprise software.
• Expert-level proficiency in Swift/Objective-C and in Appkit/SwiftUI for UI.
• Expertise in iOS/macOS internals, system extensions, OSQuery, and app permission models.
• Strong understanding of the Android platform with secondary skills in Kotlin, Java, and Android SDK.
• Extensive experience delivering secure, performant, resilient cross-platform mobile solutions.
• Experience thriving in agile environments using CI/CD for rapid and reliable delivery.
• Exceptional communication skills to explain complex architectural concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Identity and Access Management protocols and architecture (e.g., FIDO, U2F, WebAuth, SSO, SAML, Kerberos, OAuth, Federation).
• Security or systems development experience on Android (e.g., root detection, code signing, tamper resistance, PKI, SafetyNet).
• Knowledge of Mobile Device Management.
• Experience working on public-facing SDKs.
