Operations Head

Overview

Operations Head role in HPE Operations, HPE's IT services organization, delivering technical design, solution delivery and team leadership for enterprise technology solutions. This role is onsite, primarily at an HPE partner or customer office.

What you'll do

• Verify and implement detailed technical design solutions identified by the Project or Technical Manager.
• Provide detailed technical designs for enterprise solutions and act as Principal Consultant analyzing and developing enterprise technology solutions.
• Lead the technical assessment and delivery of specific technical solutions to the customer.
• Provide a team structure conducive to high performance and manage the team lifecycle stages.
• Coordinate implementation of new installations, designs and migrations for technology solutions in networks, applications or platforms.
• Provide advanced technical consulting and advice on proposal efforts, solution design, system management, tuning and modification of solutions.
• Provide input to company strategy moving forward.
• Collect and determine data from appropriate sources to assess customer needs and requirements, and respond to requests for technical information from customers.
• Develop customer technology solutions using various industry products and technologies.
• Engage in technical problem solving across multiple technologies, developing new methods where needed.
• Own and manage knowledge sharing within a community (team, practice or project) and coach others in area of expertise.
• Regularly produce internally published material such as knowledge briefs and service delivery kit components, and present at multi-customer technology conferences.
• Create and support sales activities, manage bids or provide major input into the sales lifecycle, and produce complete proposals for smaller engagements within area of expertise.
• Actively grow the company portfolio with existing customers through new opportunities and change management.

What you'll need

• 8+ years of professional experience and a Bachelor of Arts/Science or equivalent degree in computer science or related area of study; without a degree, three additional years of relevant professional experience (11+ years in total).
• Sufficient depth and breadth of technical knowledge to design and scope multiple deliverables across a number of technologies.
• Demonstrated innovation and communication of new deliverables and offerings.
• Experience leading a team in the delivery of multiple deliverables across multiple technologies.
• Ability to develop solutions that enhance the availability, performance, maintainability and agility of a customer's enterprise.
• Experience contributing to the design and application of new tools.
• Ability to re-use existing experience to develop new solutions to take to market.
• Understanding, at a detailed level, of architectural dependencies of technologies in use in the customer's IT environment.
• Frequent use of product and application knowledge along with internals or architectural knowledge to develop solutions.
• Recognized expert in one or more technologies within own technical community and at regional level.
• Vendor or industry certification in at least one discipline area.
• Ability to communicate confidently with internal and external senior management.
• Ability to work in a multi-technology environment and diagnose complex technical problems to their root cause.
• Troubleshooting and consulting skills, with the ability to summarise prognosis and impact at practice lead level.
• Ability to adapt a consulting style to the situation and identify up-sell opportunities.
• Broad understanding of market dynamics, industry area, commercial issues and technical concerns, while maintaining depth in core focus area.
• Ability to present within own area of expertise as part of a customer sales presentation.
• Demonstrated ability to lead others in gathering requirements, designs, plans and estimates.
• Ability to produce complete proposals for smaller engagements within own area of expertise.
• Broad knowledge in other technical areas to manage complex integration efforts.
• Application of technical expertise in successful engagements involving multiple disciplines.
• Ability to independently complete solution implementation or application design deliverables.
• Ability to manage a team of consultants in completing one or more solution requirements, architecture or implementation deliverables.
