Overview
Principal Engineer (Data) provides technical leadership for enterprise data platforms and analytics solutions across design, development, modernization, and operations.
What you'll do
- Analyze technical feasibility and evaluate data/analytics solutions against business, operational, and regulatory needs.
- Design and implement scalable data engineering solutions like pipelines, data models, integrations, and analytics-ready products.
- Lead data architecture and ETL/ELT work including code reviews, performance tuning, and production support.
- Modernize legacy data and reporting systems by migrating from traditional ETL/reporting tools to cloud platforms.
- Design and oversee cloud data pipelines using Python, Spark, SQL, and orchestration/transformation tools.
- Partner on technical roadmap execution for data engineering, analytics enablement, modernization, quality, and automation.
- Mentor engineers and support AI/ML enablement through reliable, governed, feature-ready data assets.
What you'll need
- 12+ years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, analytics engineering, or enterprise data platform development.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, data engineering, analytics, engineering, or equivalent training/experience.
- Strong experience with Python, SQL, distributed data processing, and ETL/ELT development; Spark experience preferred.
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms/services, preferably AWS, including development, deployment, monitoring, and operational support.
- Strong understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, data quality, metadata management, data lineage, and performance optimization.
- Working knowledge of AI/ML concepts and data engineering practices for advanced analytics and model-ready datasets.
- Deep understanding of software development and data engineering practices, including version control, testing, CI/CD, and operational monitoring.
