Senior Software Engineer, Data Engineering

Overview

Senior Data Engineer role focused on scaling DoorDash’s data infrastructure, automation, and tools for growing business needs.

What you'll do

• Work with business partners and stakeholders to understand data requirements.
• Collect required data with engineering, product teams, and 3rd parties.
• Design, develop, and implement high-volume, high-performance data models and pipelines for Data Lake and Data Warehouse.
• Implement data quality checks, run QA, and set up monitoring routines.
• Improve reliability and scalability of ETL processes.
• Manage a portfolio of data products delivering high-quality, trustworthy data.
• Onboard and support other engineers joining the team.

What you'll need

• 5+ years of professional experience.
• 3+ years of experience in data engineering, business intelligence, or a similar role.
• Proficiency using AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Codex, Cursor) across the software development lifecycle.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and/or Java.
• 3+ years of experience with ETL orchestration and workflow management tools (e.g., Airflow, Flink, Oozie, Azkaban) using AWS/GCP.
• Expertise in database fundamentals, SQL, and distributed computing.
• 3+ years of experience with distributed data/similar ecosystem (e.g., Spark, Hive, Druid, Presto) and streaming technologies such as Kafka/Flink.
