Principal, Platform Architecture

Overview

Lead enterprise platform architecture for Infrastructure Design Engineering (IDE), defining target-state architectures and modernization roadmaps for hybrid and cloud infrastructure and enterprise AI platforms.

What you'll do

• Lead architecture for enterprise-wide initiatives spanning multiple platforms, programs, and services.
• Define target-state architectures, reference patterns, and modernization roadmaps for hybrid and cloud infrastructure.
• Architect enterprise AI platforms.
• Drive platform simplification, regional builds, and sustainability-driven footprint reduction.
• Architect secure AI and cloud solutions aligned to enterprise security frameworks.
• Ensure compliance with identity, encryption, private connectivity, and auditability standards.
• Partner with Security, Risk, and Compliance leaders on enterprise approvals for AI and cloud adoption.
• Mentor engineers and architects across the IDE community.
• Publish white papers, architectural patterns, and reference designs.
• Represent IDE in Guilds, executive forums, and public technical engagements.
• Influence VP/SVP-level decisions on technology strategy and modernization investments.
• Oversee development and promotion of future-oriented platform architecture and business processes to drive innovation in support of Mastercard's business strategies.
• Manage long-term financial and resource management, including forecasting, tracking and reporting on technology and workforce budgets.
• Drive improvement initiatives within design and implementation build to identify opportunities for automation and/or reduction in time to deployment.
• Partner with security, A&T, database, and platform teams to ensure adherence to standards.
• Ensure operational platforms are running efficiently for hosted production systems and optimal safeguard processes are in place.
• Serve as a subject matter expert, leading the broader technical community to develop new innovations and technological advancements.
• Communicate Mastercard's strategic vision for future state business/technology architecture to keep business stakeholders informed of major design developments.
• Manage several teams, conduct goal setting processes, and coach and develop employees as an organizational resource.

What you'll need

• Deep expertise in AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, hybrid cloud, networking, compute, storage, AI, system architecture, service oriented architecture, cloud security, cloud services, and IT infrastructure.
• Proven experience designing large-scale, resilient, secure enterprise platforms.
