Private Valuations Team (Asset Management) - Associate

Overview

Associate on the Asset Management valuations team at HPS Investment Partners (BlackRock), based in Mumbai, supporting the growing Private Credit business by valuing illiquid investments and contributing to portfolio review materials.

What you'll do

• Onboard newly originated investments, working closely with the underwriting teams.
• Perform monthly valuations of all illiquid securities and occasionally present analysis to the valuation committee.
• Perform internal independent valuation analyses, incorporating and understanding financial statements, transaction structures, market data, and relevant investment considerations.
• Create and maintain financial models that track issuer performance.
• Contribute to the preparation of quarterly portfolio review materials, and at times present to portfolio managers.
• Liaise with internal groups such as investment teams, investor relations, business development, technology and portfolio analytics, and external parties such as third-party valuation providers and auditors.

What you'll need

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or related field.
• 3-6 years of experience within financial consulting, investment banking, asset management, top tier public accounting firm, third party valuation provider, or credit rating agency.
• Knowledge of debt instruments.
• Experience with debt or equity valuation, 3 statement modeling, and financial analysis.
• Strong Excel skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced, demanding environment.
• Demonstrated interest in investing and/or company fundamental analysis.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Capital IQ or FactSet.

• Location: Mumbai, India.
• Hybrid work schedule: 4/1 split (Monday to Thursday in office, Friday optional work from home).
• Work time: 10 am-7 pm IST or 11 am to 8 pm IST.
